Animal Care Committee Members

ACC members

All personnel involved with the use of animals in research, teaching and testing and the review of protocols must be adequately trained in the principles of animal care and use and the ethical issues involved in animal use.

The CCAC continuously develops resources and opportunities for ACC members seeking knowledge and training on topics related to ethical issues and appropriate care of animals used in science.

  • Standards and Guidance

The list of CCAC standards includes guidelines, policy statements and other relevant documents. These standards are intended to provide assistance in the implementation of best practices and the achievement of Russell and Burch's Three Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement) for use of animals in science. Assessments of institutional animal care and use programs are also based on the CCAC guidelines, policy statements and other relevant documents. The CCAC policy statement on: terms of reference for animal care committees would be of particular interest to ACC members.
