New Pedagogical Merit Review Forms for Reviewers and Instructors

The CCAC policy: Pedagogical merit of live animal-based teaching and training (2016) requires institutions to develop two pedagogical merit review forms: one to be completed by instructors that provides information on the training or course to assist reviewers in performing their assessment, and one to be completed by the reviewers during their evaluation of the merit of including live animals in the training or course.

In support of this requirement, the CCAC has developed two sample versions of the forms: the CCAC Pedagogical Merit Review Form for Instructors and the CCAC Pedagogical Merit Review Form for Reviewers. These documents are a suggested starting point for institutions to help them develop their own forms based on their unique animal ethics and care programs.

The sample forms can be found on the Policies page of the CCAC website, under the section Guidelines and Policies. Other related documents can be found on the Resources and Guidance pages.

Thank you for your ongoing collaboration in ensuring high standards of animal ethics and care at your institution.
