Updated Frequently Asked Questions on the Certification of Animal Ethics and Care Programs
The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) has updated the CCAC frequently asked questions: Certification of animal ethics and care programs. As indicated in question 6, the CCAC now requires institutions to provide a list of all incidents reported to the institutional animal care committee since the last CCAC assessment visit. This information should be submitted to the CCAC using the Animal Care and Use Program Review Form, and should include dates of occurrences, species involved, and brief descriptions of incidents, including their causes.
All CCAC policies related to assessment and certification can be found on the Policies page of the CCAC website, and other related documents can be found on the Resources page.
Thank you for your ongoing collaboration in ensuring high standards for the ethical care and use of animals at your institution.
