The CCAC Publishes New Guidelines on Amphibians
The CCAC guidelines: Amphibians is now available. This guidelines document, along with its associated frequently asked questions, addresses conditions normally present in laboratories housing amphibians, and provides a framework for the implementation of evidence-based practices, with the aim of improving the welfare of amphibians.
This document provides information for investigators, study directors, animal care committees, facility managers, veterinarians, and animal care staff to help facilitate improvements in both the care given to amphibians, and the manner in which experimental procedures are performed. It is based on expert peer advice and current interpretation of scientific evidence and has received extensive peer review.
The CCAC would like to thank all of the volunteer experts who participated in the creation of this guidelines document. Your insights and expertise are deeply valued, and we truly appreciate the important role you play in the development of our standards for the ethical care and use of animals in Canadian science.
