CCAC’s New Associate Director of Assessment
The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Nancy Stonos-Smith as associate director of assessment, effective August 12, 2024.

Ms. Stonos-Smith brings a wealth of expertise in animal welfare, livestock feed, and food safety. She has significant professional experience in standards and certification, having worked with provincial inspectorates to uphold animal welfare standards in food production. Ms. Stonos-Smith holds a master’s degree in animal science with a specialization in immunology and virology. She has also completed four years of a PhD program at the University of Guelph, where she studied sheep and goat diseases.
The CCAC looks forward to working with Ms. Stonos-Smith as a member of the Assessment and Certification team.
