Veterinarians and Researchers Needed for CCAC Ferrets Subcommittee

The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) is forming a subcommittee of volunteer experts to revise its guidelines on ferrets. Specifically, the CCAC is still looking for veterinarians and protocol authors with expert knowledge of the care and use of ferrets in science.

The mandate of this subcommittee is to establish species-specific guidelines, based on expert interpretation of current scientific evidence, to help facilitate improvements in both the care given to ferrets, and to the experimental procedures they are involved in. Consult the terms of reference for more information.

All subcommittee members will be appointed to serve for the duration of the guidelines development process and should be committed to ensuring the steady progress of the guidelines document. Subcommittee members will work through email and videoconference and will be asked to contribute to the drafting and revision of the document.

Both self-nominations and recommendations of suitable candidates are welcome. Please forward the name, contact information, statement of interest, and curriculum vitae of applicants to the CCAC Secretariat at nominations@ccac.ca by October 25, 2024.
