Registration is Open for the CCAC’s Webinar on Animal Welfare Assessment!
The third webinar in the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC)’s Virtual Learning Series, Animal Welfare Assessment, is now open for registration!
The CCAC guidelines: Animal welfare assessment was developed based on the recognition that animals used for scientific purposes should have good welfare, which is characterized by maximizing animals’ positive experiences while minimizing their negative ones. This approach to ensuring good welfare is already at the core of many existing practices including formal welfare assessments.
This session, delivered in English by Dr. Goldia Chan, will explore the details of the 2021 guidelines and discuss the implementation of animal welfare assessment in research, teaching, and testing. This will be followed by a general discussion and Q&A.

Dr. Goldia Chan received her undergraduate degree at McGill University and then went on to complete her DVM at the Ontario Veterinary College. After graduating, she completed a residency and post-doctoral fellowship in laboratory animal medicine at the University of Michigan. She was the clinical veterinarian at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario but has recently left to join the Comparative Medicine team at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. She became boarded with the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine in 2023. Her research interests include large animal surgical models, post-operative analgesia, and improving DEI in the field of laboratory animal medicine.

All requests for refunds must be made by email to . If a cancellation is made before midnight, 14 days prior to the event date, refunds will be subject to a $25.00 administration fee. Cancellations made less than 14 days before the event date are not eligible for a refund, and the full registration fee will be retained.
