CCAC Assessment and Certification Information Sheets
As part of the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC)’s commitment to provide certified institutions with support documents throughout its transparency initiative, the CCAC has created three information sheets designed to answer questions related to next week’s launch of Phase 2.
The documents include information geared to the public on the CCAC assessment process, the various types of CCAC certification (preliminary, probationary, and regular), and the types of recommendations made in assessment reports.
All CCAC-certified institutions are free to disseminate these information sheets, to use as-is or to adapt within their own communications.
Other resources currently available on the CCAC website include Benefits of Transparency and CCAC Facts & Figures. The CCAC also has a communication guide available upon request should institutions wish to increase transparency within their own animal care and use programs.
The CCAC will continue to create more resources and provide opportunities for discussion to support institutions. In the meantime, for all questions and comments, , CCAC Director of Public Affairs and Communications.
Once again, thank you for participating in this important initiative. The CCAC believes that transparency, open dialogue, and clear communication regarding the ethical care and use of animals in research, teaching, and testing are vital to achieving better public understanding, increased public trust, and improved animal welfare. The CCAC encourages institutions to make a commitment to continuously improve their transparency, as every step forward, no matter how small it may seem, contributes to significant change.
