Thank You for Making a Difference to the CCAC!

Thanks to volunteers

Happy National Volunteer Month! On behalf of the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC), I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our volunteers and stakeholders for the time, expertise, and dedication you’ve generously shared over the years.

National Volunteer Month is a time to recognize the vital role volunteers play and the remarkable impact they have. At the CCAC, your contributions are at the heart of everything we do. Our successes are made possible because of your commitment and passion.

The CCAC is fortunate to have the support of nearly 2,000 people serving on more than 200 local animal care committees across Canada. Beyond that, hundreds of others contribute on the CCAC Board of Directors, committees, subcommittees, task forces, and assessment panels. Many more lend their expertise by reviewing documents, translations, and draft guidelines, helping us ensure the highest standards in ethical animal care and use.

In 2025-2026 alone:

  • 46 people served on one of the CCAC’s five standing committees
  • 109 volunteers participated on guidelines development subcommittees
  • 22 people participated on working groups or task forces
  • 52 were assessment panel members
  • 11 presented at our in-person national workshop

You can see our list of volunteers on the CCAC website.

I would also like to recognize the vital role you all play in shaping a robust, ethical, and internationally renowned scientific ecosystem in Canada. Together, we share the common goal of ensuring the responsible care and use of all animals in Canadian science. Your dedication in sharing this mission and helping deliver our programs across institutions is deeply valued. We are truly fortunate to have such a wealth of knowledge and experience among our volunteers.

Thank you once again for your invaluable work. The CCAC could not achieve its mission without you.

Kindest regards,

Mr. Pierre Verreault
Executive Director
