The CCAC Celebrates 50 Years of Animal Care
This year marks the CCAC's 50th anniversary. Established on January 30, 1968 to set, maintain, and oversee the implementation of high standards for animal ethics and care in science throughout Canada, the CCAC has grown to include a robust, dedicated community of more than 2,000 volunteer experts serving on various committees, subcommittees, and over 190 local animal care committees, helping to deliver our program in institutions across Canada.
The CCAC would not be what it is today without the work and dedication of our volunteers, certified institutions, member organizations, and other stakeholders, and we are extremely grateful for all that you do to promote high standards of animal ethics and care in Canadian science.
To highlight this occasion, we have launched an official 50th anniversary website with the theme "50 Years of Animal Care". Designed to evolve as the year unfolds, the site will provide an opportunity for our community – animal care committee members, certified institutions, member organizations, volunteer experts, and members of the Canadian public – to share their memories and their vision for the CCAC's future. It will also provide an occasion for us to thank you for your support, involvement, and engagement over the past half-century.
The website features a timeline, vignettes about the various activities and people that have impacted the CCAC, as well as CCAC facts and figures. A photo gallery will also be added shortly. With news, updates, and event information, this website will serve as a hub for the CCAC's anniversary celebrations. We would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our thanks for all of the dedicated and hardworking individuals who have committed their time and energy to building the CCAC over the past 50 years. We could not have come this far without you.
We wish you a very Happy New Year, and hope that 2018 brings you all joy, health, and happiness.
