CCAC’s New Director of Assessment and Certification

Dr. Judith Farley

The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Judith Farley as Director of Assessment and Certification, effective September 5, 2023.

Dr. Farley holds a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (2000), a Master in Veterinary Clinical Sciences (2005), and a Specialized Studies Diploma in Equine Surgery, all from the Université de Montréal, where she also completed an internship in applied veterinary sciences in equine medicine and surgery (2001).

Dr. Farley joins the CCAC from the Aquarium du Québec where she was the lead veterinarian and manager of the animal health sector, caring for more than 300 species. Since becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Farley has held different positions in practice (terrestrial and aquatic animals), research, management, and veterinary teaching. She is known for her skills in multidisciplinary team leadership, problem-solving, management, writing of official documents, and her knowledge in animal health (various species), ethics, and welfare.

The CCAC looks forward to working with Dr. Farley as she leads the Assessment and Certification program. With the support of her dedicated team, she will be instrumental in helping the CCAC achieve its strategic goals and in facilitating program participation nationwide.
