Call for Members: Standards Committee

The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) is looking for members for its Standards Committee. Tasked with the development and renewal of guidelines, policies, and practices, with respect to ethical care and use of animals in science, the committee focuses its efforts on:

  • determining guidelines, policies, and best practices to be developed or updated, and providing recommendations to the CCAC Board of Directors
  • overseeing the development or revision of guidelines, policies, and best practices
  • making recommendations concerning guidelines implementation and overseeing the development of supporting materials, where appropriate

The committee is seeking members with experience with animal care committees. Additionally, exposure to policy and standards development would be considered an asset. The committee composition should reflect the diversity of the animal care and use community and of society to the greatest extent possible.

Members shall be appointed to serve an initial term of three years. Appointees are eligible for reappointment by the board but may not serve more than six consecutive years, except in the case of extenuating circumstances. Members will be selected by the CCAC Governance and Nominations Committee and the board.

Committee discussions will be conducted mostly via email and videoconference. Members may also be asked to contribute to the preparation of materials to support the CCAC.
