Clarification for In-Person Animal Care Committee Meetings

In a communication sent to program participants in September 2024, regarding in‑person animal care committee meetings, the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) stated that all animal care committees must now meet in‑person at least twice a year, and visit all animal facilities at least once a year (as per the CCAC policy: Certification of animal care and use programs, Appendix III, “Requirements for Maintaining CCAC Certification”).

The CCAC would like to clarify that as long as a quorum of in‑person members is reached, other participants may take part in the meeting virtually and, as such, a hybrid model for animal care committee meetings is acceptable.
