The CCAC Publishes Revised Scientific Procedures Guidelines Parts A and B

The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) has published two revised guidelines documents:

Each document has a one-year implementation timeline.

These documents contain guidelines previously found in the CCAC Guide to the Care and Use of Experimental Animals, Volume 1, 2nd ed., which have been updated and streamlined to assist investigators, animal care committees, facility managers, veterinarians, technicians, and animal care personnel in facilitating improvements to both the care given to animals and the manner in which experimental procedures are performed.

The CCAC would like to thank the experts who participated in the revision of these guidelines documents, as well as the CCAC Translation Advisory Group for their comments on the French translation. Your insights and expertise are deeply valued, and we truly appreciate the important role you play in the development of our standards for the ethical care and use of animals in Canadian science.

Breakout sessions discussing these new guidelines will be offered at the CCAC National Workshop 2025, providing an opportunity to share best practices and challenges related to scientific procedures.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to .
